Environmental & social responsibility policy

At the George Hotel & Brasserie we are committed to working in a sustainable way. We are undertaking the following actions in order to achieve this:

  • We continuously seek to improve our environmental & social performance by regularly reviewing our practices and encouraging our guests’ involvement. We do this by asking
    them for their feedback on our green efforts via our comment cards.
  • We reduce pollution emissions and waste by re-using and recycling whenever possible.
    For instance we donate used glass jam and yogurt jars to local schools for arts & crafts.
  • We have reduced the use of energy and water by instigating new policies such as turning
    the lights off in the ground floor areas at night as well as installing motion-sensors for both lighting and flush systems.
  • We raise awareness, encourage participation and train employees in sustainable
    business practices.
  • We expect similar environmental standards from all suppliers and contractors.
  • We assist customers to use products and services in an environmentally sensitive way,
    the green section in the bedroom compendium has suggestions for our guests on what
    they can do to be greener visitors.
  • We liaise with the local community.
  • We have minimised our risks associated with social and environmental issues.
  • We have joined the Green Tourism Business Scheme as an indicator of our
    sustainable practices.
